The World Resources Institute (WRI.org) is a leader in defining sustainability and methods to reduce environmental impact. This is one of our influencing resources .

The Climb is dedicated to treading as lightly as its 14 passenger bus can. We hope to provide accurate data on our environmental impact as we enter our first year on the road.

Besides reducing our general fuel use by using the most efficient routes possible, we use locally sourced biofuels.

Biofuels ( like vegetable oil and Biodiesel) enable lower emissions than petroleum fuels, because biofuels have a less energy intensive refining process and are not shipped from our coastal areas. Periods last summer, and hopefully this summer, the Climb be fueled on 100% locally sourced biofuell. Data on the emissions of biofuels show reduce particulate or soot emissions and has a 50% lower CO2 footprint ( http://www.epa.gov/otaq/renewablefuels/420f09064.htm )

Center For ReSource Conservation  (CRC) is one of Boulder's oldest environmental advocacy and education organizations.

They can help you understand all of the new incentives the Local and Federal governments have enacted to help us all make our homes more efficient. Check them out for a home energy audit, solar power details, or a workshop on water conservation.

Climate Smart along with the CRC is Boulder's concierge to the area's sustainable/environmental activities. Check this site for a graph showing how Boulder is improving its GHG emissions.

We have added a link to their sites under our local partners section.  See our links for updates on new sustainable transportation and Boulder Organizations. If you need one more scientific reason to ride the Climb, read this report from NASA.

Please see this article:

http://www.giss.nasa.gov/research/news/20100218a/

"For decades, climatologists have studied the gases and particles that have potential to alter Earth's climate. They have discovered and described certain airborne chemicals that can trap incoming sunlight and warm the climate, while others cool the planet by blocking the Sun's rays.

Now a new study led by Nadine Unger of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) in New York City offers a more intuitive way to understand what's changing the Earth's climate. Rather than analyzing impacts by chemical species, scientists have analyzed the climate impacts by different economic sectors..."

Boulder County creates region’s first community-wide transit pass program

Boulder County, Colo. – In partnership with residents of Gold Hill and other mountain communities, Boulder County has created the Climb Community Transit Pass to improve access to and from Boulder.

The program, the first of its kind in the region, continues Boulder County’s commitment to providing transportation options to residents by enhancing existing transit services.

The annual pass provides free, unlimited access to the “Climb” bus route from Ward and Gold Hill. The pass is available to residents who live within a half mile of the Climb route, including the areas of Ward, Gold Hill, Summerville, Salina, Four Mile Canyon and Logan Mill Road.
