We hope that the BP oil leak in the Gulf can be fixed quickly and the environmental damage corrected as much and as quickly as possible.

The Climb acknowledges that the US's continued reliance on petroleum for daily transportation will make another petroleum related event likely.

We would like to be proactive. Fortunately, there are a great many organizations and businesses in Boulder County developing the tools for you to reduce your dependence on oil.

First, we are proud to use locally sourced biodiesel and waste vegetable oil for our fuel.  As much as 90% of our fuel is locally made in summers and at least 20% in the coldest days of winter.

www.petesebikes.com  Pete's sells electric bikes and scooters that gives you exercise but makes the bike commute much less of a burden.

boulderev.com/ Boulder Electric Vehicles is making electric delivery vehicles. They may not be in stores yet, but they are getting closer.

www.teslamotors.com/teslastore/boulder  Ok, it's a bit out of everyone's price range but go by north pearl and take a look at these petroleum free hotrods!

www.optibike.com/   Optibike bikes are great e-mountain bikes. They are really improving battery systems in bikes and could really help on those long commutes.

Want to make your own electric ? www.electric-bikes.com/motor/cycles.html   These guys can help.

Don't forget about B-Cycle  ( city bike share) in Denver. If you go to catch a baseball game, hit a brewery or museum for the day, you can catch the Climb to RTD, Catch the  B bus and bike around to everything big city!

Biking and walking are great ways to to move in Boulder if the weather is ok and hills are not too much after a long workday.

We hope you will take the Climb in combination with other modes, including the hybrid electric diesel buses offered by RTD.

If biking is an issue in combination with the Climb, PLEASE advice us about what you need. ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) We would like to develop bike corrals for Climb users, both up Four Mile and in Boulder, so that leaving a bike at either point of your ride is a viable option.

How can we make catching and waiting for the Climb better for you?

Everything helps!

The students and teachers at Gold Hill School ran hard for the bus!

They raised $1,278!  By running laps around Gold Hill. Obviously there are many very in shape and energetic students!

The Climb and community Thank you very very much. Enjoy your summer!

Earth Day 2010 has passed but we are just getting started learning more about the local opportunities for sustainable transportation.

Keep in mind JUNE is Bike to Work Day/Month (goboulder.com).

DR COG  ( what?) is the regional organization helping the metro area work together. Some good unjournalistic informationals on sustainable transportation are listed HERE.

You may be aware of Rock Mountain Institute, but how about this sustainability aggregate-or Smart Products?

See the links page for the Green Car Journal and Boulder Maps

Also, The Climb has inspired ( we like to think) a study on rural transportation in Boulder County. We are participating in meetings and offering our anonymous general ridership data. No member data will ever be transferred.
